  5. Good Evening -- been here a little over a wk --still putting things away. I need to make a list of what's left here so that I don't duplicate. I volunteered at Castaway's this morning - a place like Goodwill - that run by the churches and all volunteers. Brought home a black skirt to try on. The hot water heater isn't working just write and so went out to get someone to come look at it - Wednesday - they'll call and tell us the time. Called a week ago today and talked to Bill - AT&T -- still no service and so on Wednesday talked to Shelly and Linda - seems he didn't put in the order and should be done in 2 hours. Still no service on Fri and everytime I called - and finally pushed the right buttons and they'd send me to an operator - the offices were closed till today. Twana checked the line and it seems to be on the line and maybe tomorrow. I told them they should deduct 1/4 of my bill -- not had service for a week. We'll see!!!!
I'm guessing you sent to Lisa's and had a GRAND time. Hope so anyway. It's been a long time since you've updated the blogspot for me. LOVE Aunt Marilyn

Just a note to say hello, and that I'm thinking of you! Sounds like things are going pretty good. I completely understand where you were coming from on your last post, not wanting to jinks yourself. I like to thank God every day for little stuff too.

Well, have a great Christmas! I hope you are going to be able to see lots of family! We are flying back to Iowa for the week. My sister, brother and their families are all coming back.

    Take care, rock star!!!

  11. Good Morning -- Doodlebug -- It's about 69 outside and the wind is blowing about 20 miles an hour and to me -- it's plain cool. Guess what? We were without hot water Friday till Monday after I got off from school and went out there -- the part was in - except for the shield and so he came right out and put it on. Without hot water is the PITTS. I substituted 8 days out of the
14 1/2 days during Dec. Whataburger - like McDonalds - has the 12 days of Christmas and every other day they give something away. Today it's the Whataburger -- we'll go down about 11:30 -- other things were milkshakes - fries - apple pie - cinnamon roll.
I have 2# raw peanuts to make peanut brittle but it needs to be colder and the humidity has to go down before even starting the process.
I'm so praying that you'll start feeling better and it's not fighting rejection. We're going over to LaVern and Carolyn for Christmas - just the 4 of us. Shirley's gone to AZ and Earl and Judy want to go to CC and eat out. I'm to fix pies and a salad. After our Whataburger have to go get some Crisco to make pie crusts - didn't leave that here all summer as it would have melted and gone bad. Well, SUGAR - I'd best sign off for today. Praying for a good report and please let us know as soon as possible. LOVE YOU. A Marilyn & U Harvey

  16. Janna: Merry Christmas! We continue to keep you in our prayers as you continue down the "recovery road". I've thought a lot about the message in your blog -- that we're called to put aside our own agenda and seek out the agenda that God plans. It's a powerful message, and has been a source of a lot of spiritual reflection over the holiday. May God continue to direct your path as you move into 2011! Peace and love, Mark Purdome (and the whole Purdome family).

  21. GOOD MORNING DOODLE BUG!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!! Nothing on the BLOG today so far - wondering how you are???? It was about 55 when we got up and now probably 61 degrees. Judy's deep frying fish and french fries, Norma's doing black eyed peas for good luck and I'm doing cold slaw. I think Betty's doing a dessert.
I helped at Castaways last Monday and will again Monday == shouldn't have to teach because it's a rule - you have to work the day before and day after a vacation. HURRAH.
We went across the road to Glenda's last night = I took spiced nuts = pretty good. Glenda had Taco soup and then everyone brought snicky snacks.
Got my unfinished rug out and so will try and get the last 3 rows done this weekend. I'd best get started - remember we LOVE you and are asking the higher power for you to get better quick. LOVE M & H

  33. HI Janna....I check your blog daily and think and pray for you daily. Christ is the healer. Not sure why everyone has a different journey to health. Praying that Jesus would give you "hidden manna" (rev. 2:17) to get you through this. I know there is no formula to healing, but there are many people kneeling at the feet of Jesus on your behalf. You are loved and you are beautiful. You love well and God sees and hears every movement you make. Love you!

  34. Janna....just have to write this. Reading Psalm 3:3-8 "But you are a shield around me O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To the Lord I cry aloud and he answers me from his holy hill. I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the Lord sustains me. I will not FEAR the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side. Arise OLord! Deliver me, o my God!....." Praying this over you and your family tonight. Know that He moves at the sounds of our voices, however weak we might think they are.

    Love you!

  42. Good Morning Doodle Bug -- I'm waiting on your Uncle to come back from Whataburger so that I can go wash dirty clothes. Yesterday the high here was 41 and is the same this morning. They were predicting frost Tuesday night and so we have 5 plants hanging and sitting in here. I've been baking cake muffins for Judy's travel bus. Worked yesterday morning at Castaways - the thrift shop. I've never seen so much stuff donated for supposedly a small community. Best I get off here in case he shows up. KEEP BEING CAREFUL AND NOT OVER DOING. WE'RE ALL PRAYING FOR YOU. Love A Marilyn

  49. Janna.....reading Psalm 21 and praying this over you. "You a have given him his heart's desire, And You have not withheld the request of his lips. For You meet him with the blessings of good things; You set a crown of fine gold on his head. He asked life of You, You gave it to him, Length of days forever and ever. His glory is great through Your salvation, Splendor and majesty You place upon him. For You make him most blessed forever; You make him joyful with gladness in Your presence." (Psalm 21:2-6)

The word of God is living and active and He moves on your behalf when we pray. God loves you so much. You have been on such a journey...a battle. God sees and hears!! Come to the Lord expectant for a break through this year.

  52. Hi Jannnna, I remember calling you that in college. :) Seems like an eternity ago when we were roomies in that old white house & everyone had to walk though our room to get to the only bathroom. Just wanted to let you know that I'm continuing to pray for you. May God fill you with peace that passes all understanding. May He comfort you & fill you with strength. He loves you Janna.

Hebrews 12: 1-3 And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

I gave this verse to my mom a few weeks ago as she was finishing up her chemo. Hopefully, it will be encouraging to you too. Lots of love, Holly Keller

  55. Janna, Thinking and praying for you this morning. It is about 24 degrees here in Houston and the schools are dismissing early with the chance of freezing rain and snow. We can't really go anywhere.

Still reading the book Christ the Healer. It has a section about the names of God.....here is a quote from the book. "Jehovah-Rapha is translated the Lord thy Physician or I am the Lord that healeth thee. This name is given to reveal to us our redemptive privilege of being healed. This privilege is purchased by the Atonement. The redemptive chapter of Isaiah declares, "Surely he hath borne our sicknesses and carried our pains."

Like you said....we know there is a bigger picture, just not sure why you have to be in the battle. I am still hearing the Lord say that Janna will receive a double portion. Not sure exactly what this means, but be encouraged my dear friend.

    Love you!

    Emily

  57. Janna... we are praying for you every, single day. My sweet girl has such a heart for you. Her prayer for you last night... "God, please help Janna. You are the only one who can help her, not all the doctors, not all the nurses, just you, God." It is amazing the words that come from such a small package. She also told me that sometimes she feels like Jesus is hugging her. So that is my prayer for you... that you always, ALWAYS feel like Jesus is hugging you.

We love you and are praying encouragement for you.

  58. Praying the Psalms over you tonight. They are screaming at me.

Psalm 28: 6-7 " Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplication. The Lord is my STRENGTH and my SHIELD; My heart trust in Him, and I am helped..."

Also Psalm 31:19 " How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you"

Thinking of the moments when we cry out to the Lord for Mercy and relief. He comes in at that moment and gives us Grace to get through it.

Janna, "be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord."

  61. HI DOODLE BUG -- I've looked 2X today for a message from you. We had 3 days last week with temperatures at night around 27 -26- 28 and wind chill 18 or so. DARNED cold for down here. We have the plants in and out - they probably think they are YO-YO's. Was supposed to sub W T F last week - teachers out for training but it was postponed. We're going to a Japanese Buffet in Corpus tomorrow for Valentine's Day. No school here 14th - I know why - you have never seen as much and many things that are given in the name of LOVE. HA - if they'd turn them loose they'd stay. We're going on the bus this Friday to the San Antonio Rodeo and then see Martina McBride. I hope you are feeling stronger every day. Please don't do something that you know you shouldn't!!!!We love you and are still praying for you. LOVE YOU. A Marilyn
