So apparently my mom (Carmen Schwenk) got to see you today in Omaha and she didn't know that we know you! What a tiny world. If she gets her treatment there I hope to be able to see you as well. Our hearts/thoughts/prayers are with you.

  8. Just a FUN FYI: Rachel is totally looking after you, Janna. We usually pray for you at every meal and then before bed. This morning at breakfast, I didn't pray for you and Rachel said after the prayer, "Mom, you didn't pray for Miss Janna." You've got a 3 year old prayer warrior who has your back! : )

  19. Janna,

We're thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers. You have such a great attitude....keep that going! I remember a Chinese Proverb that I kept on my fridge while waiting for my lungs. It went something like "When you want to move mountains, start with small stones." Take this journey one small stone and a time and you will conquer that mountain.

  47. Hi, Janna~
Wow! This week has been a roller coaster! I just found out about this Monday and cried and cried. I decided to only tell Khayman, as I wasn't sure the younger kids would understand/not be scared. Khayman has been praying faithfully for you every day! Then, Thursday and Friday, to find out such good news...so AMAZING! Although I agree with you that God should be glorified no matter what, I can't help being out-of-this-world thankful for your increased WBC count and stem cell match (Yay, Keith!, even though we don't know you!). Just wanted you to know we are thinking of you, praying for you and watching this site for additional ways we can help! You mean so much to our family!

  63. Hi Janna,
Just want you to know that I am praying for you. I remember our childhood like it was yesterday! Everytime I hear the "Smurfs" theme song I get a smile on my face because I remember spatting with you about who is going to be "Smurfette". Another great memory is when I was lucky enough to get asked to go on one of your family trips to the Ozarks. You and your family were a great joy to be around. You were one of my besties in the younger years! You, Janna, taught me to be a strong woman at the age of 7!!!! I was always amazed with your power, might and strength! Stay strong in the Lord my friend. God is with you and your family!

  66. Good evening - Doodle Bug -- we been to Aransas Pass to the Pizzeria - only buffet - and of course I over eat. Sorry - I'll bet you wish you could have some now. I certainly didn't realize you'd be on such a strict diet. Went to Church this morning and of course - Janna was on our prayer list - for strength to get thru this chemo and before long be ALL BETTER.
We've had some sunshine and then clouds and a fine mist - supposedly more rain the first 3 days of this week. Made some very good bread pudding with Brandy sauce this afternoon - but too full to eat it now. Lucy's still her bratty self. We love you bunches and hope you and your Dad will be truly on the mend. 76. Janna, I know that there can be very very low times when recieving chemo. I certainly cannot claim to know how difficult that this is for you. I have only had the outside view as a nurse watching and caring for others. I can claim that when you are low in this valley you are not alone! I know this by reading your words here that even the lowest times your faith is the highest of highs and your friends, family and most importantly Jesus Christ is carrying you! Hang in there! The low will pass! I hope very soon for you. Much love and prayer from your friends here in the south. Peace, Strength, Healing and Love

We went to a bunch of garage sales this morning - bought a timer for 50 cents and without a triple A battery and of course the _____think doesn't work. Such is life. Got to finish the little rug for the ladies bathroom this week -- 16" X 23" It's over 1/2 done and so shouldn't take more than 5 or 6 days - doing one round at a time. We're still praying that the fever stops and you begin to feel better - but in case it doesn't -- does it delay the next round of chemo????? LOVE YOU BUNCHES> Aunt Marilyn

  103. Janna, thank you so much for the updates. I am already offering prayers of thanksgiving for the next round of successful chemo. And as I enjoy the March Madness, I'm visualizing you flying down the BB court with a breakaway score and a smile - I know without a doubt that is in your future! Big "long distance" hugs for you and your family.

  104. Janna, here's to hoping your fever is gone asap! You were on my mind and many others here in Seattle this past Sunday. We did an event called The Big Climb here for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. My very good friend Laura is testament to surviving lymphoma because of all $$ raised to support research and treatment. It is such a great organization. Stay strong my dear friend! xoxoxo

  106. Good Afternoon - Doodle Bug -- Needing to know if about the 23 or 24 - maybe just before next chemo - H needs to go to the dentist - if we came up - could we see you and give you a giant HUG. Don't want to do something to upset your schedule. We had a bit of fog and mist this morning - brunch after we garaged saled - sausage casserole, biscuits and gravey and fruit and orange juice. Very good - now it's sandwiches for evening - while watching the 2 BB games. Just getting those little 6th graders to know me and behave and I'll be going home. Will miss them. Praying for a better week or two for you. LOVE YOU BUNCHES. A Marilyn

  113. Janna-
I went in to the office today to pick up some forms for the kids and heard your news. I am praying for you without ceasing, celebrating the donor match and praying God removes any complications or roadblocks on your way to full recovery. Despite knowing you only "professionally", your faith is such a part of your identity, that I was not a bit surprised to see the name of your blog! All the Zeigers are confident in God's good plan for you, and trust that he will give you strength when you are weary. One of my favorite hymns is Great Is Thy Faithfulness, and I pray those words for you now: May you have strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow!!!

  117. Janna,
As I was reading tonight I opened to Matthew 9. It says in Matthew 9:22 'Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment on.

Your faith and trust in the Lord has always been an inspiration to me. You are a beautiful daughter of our heavenly father. Your determination, faith and love for the Lord will overcome this. The faith of your friends are there to carry you when you are weak! We are praying for you daily Janna and beyond the 7:11 am and 10:11 pm. My prayer is that you feel His gentleness comfort you and His strength daily easing the burden of this cross.

    Love you Janna!

  119. Janna, have you ever thought that frustration is a prerequisite for miracles? As you stay in faith...the more frustration...the bigger the miracle??? So, you are DEFINITELY ready for your miracle, hugh? As I was praying for continued strength for you and your family, it occurred to me that YOUR strength is contagious! And your unwavering faith is such an inspiration. Thank you for that!

  122. Hi Janna,

I was at the clinic myself for a check-up on Tuesday...I wish I would have run into you.:-) Almost 7 years out from my diagnosis I can tell you that beautiful and amazing things come from some of the most difficult times. Your continued faith and trust in God and his plan is a great testimony. You might have those days when you ask "why me?" but God always manages to answer and
somehow it always makes sense. We're praying and believing.

  126. Good Morning - Doodle Bug -- have a ham in the oven and the dishwasher going - even read the ads from the paper -- please don't ask about the rest of this place. Still have dozens of things sitting in the middle of the floor from TX that have not been touched. Thursday left 12 to go by the bank and on to Stafford to Morgan's track meet. She's 6th grade and the track coach said if you want to play VB you have to go out for track. She has to compete as a 7th grader. PP has middle school - 6-7-&-8. She triple jumps - 1/4 - 100 and 200 meter dashes. Got a 5th in the jump - 1 or 2 in the 200 and 0 in the 100 - must have been 25 in the hundred. Friday am - went to Aldi's for groc - and Pam called and one of the Jr H teachers went home sick and so was in Sterling by 15 of 12. Nick's been having salt attacks and so took him for a blood pressure check and then was in the class room. Yesterday we met Dot and Sarge in Hutchinson for lunch and didn't get home till about 5. Best get off here and see if I can find the table and the floor. Remember we are praying for you on this 4th chemo - no sickness and that you'll soon be on your way to Omaha. The plans to come up the 24th or so - won't happen - have an Army planning meeting for next Oct. Army Reunion. We LOVE YOU. A Marilyn & U Harvey

  130. Hi Janna - Just wanted to let you know that Miss Isis served her first Mass as an Alter Server yesterday!! She was sooooo excited and just beamed the whole time. She carried the Cross as she wanted to observe the other servers to make sure she knew their parts before she did them.

Other than that, grades dropped a bit....think she is outgrowing her meds but will call and check that - All of us are well for a change....Nice work on God's part....I have been talking to him a lot about you....Hopefully your tests will be better today....but you know, He does things in His own way and time. We send our love and hugs and pray for good days and like you said "Time to get this over".....take Care Beautiful friend and Isis's Mentor....We love you. 138. Janna,

I am not sure if you remember me, but I shadowed you for an anatomy assignment around 2 years ago when i was a senior in high school. I now go to KSU and am planning on going to nursing school in 2 years. When i shadowed you, I was amazed at your knowledge and your sincere care for each person that came in that day. God shines through you in everything that you do and say. Those few hours I was with you were very impactful. There are certain times in my life that have encouraged me to become a pediatric nurse and that day was one of them.

Know that I am praying for you and I think of that day quite often!

  139. Janna!

I have been continuing to pray for you, and I really appreciate your having this blog for us to stay up to date with how things are going and what you need. I wanted to know if you would like to come hear me sing with the chorus at our next concert with the Kansas City Symphony on May 21, 22, or 23, all at the Lyric Theater at 11th and Central downtown. Friday and Saturday nights are at 8 pm and Sunday is at 2 pm. Let me know how many tickets you'd like and I'll arrange for some complimentary ones. I know how you feel varies greatly day to day, so if you'd like me to arrange a back-up in case you decide to skip it, that won't be any problem. But I'd LOVE for you to come if you want to enjoy the music! You can check out the KSC website for more details and let me know!

    Blessings to you!
